An independent reading list, kept by hand.
Compendium16 is a web directory maintained as a running ledger of websites currently active on the open internet. Entries are posted to one of 22 subject accounts and held on the register for as long as the site remains accessible and relevant to its filed category.
The directory was assembled to serve as a plain-language reference: a list of sites, organised by subject, that can be consulted without registration or prior knowledge of the field. The 22 subject accounts span most common areas of web activity, from healthcare and finance through to construction, media, and travel.
Each entry on the ledger has passed a basic review: the site was checked to be live, its content reviewed against the stated category, and its posting approved before appearing in the register. The review process is consistent across all accounts and does not apply ranking or editorial preference beyond these criteria.
Submissions are open to any operator with an active website. To post an entry, navigate to a subject account and use the submission form, or go directly to the submission page. Each submission is processed in the order received. Approved entries appear in the relevant account and are indexed alongside existing postings.
Compendium16 maintains its ledger on a rolling basis. Entries are not removed unless a site is confirmed inactive; the register reflects the current state of the web rather than a fixed snapshot. Browse any of the 22 accounts to consult the full list of postings in that field.
